Commenting on the statement from the Crown Estate regarding the development of the Celtic Sea for floating offshore wind, Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb said:
“There is real momentum building now for a new renewable energy industry in the waters off the West Wales coast. With dozens of companies looking at the emerging opportunities in the Celtic Sea, I am pleased that the Crown Estate has taken another important step forward in setting out a clear plan for how this industry will be developed most effectively. The tender process to be launched in mid-2023 demonstrates a strong commitment to securing this green energy vision for Pembrokeshire and the UK.”
“Milford Haven is already one of the most important energy hubs in the UK. If the port can become a centre for supporting floating offshore wind then we will see new jobs and apprenticeships being created. The development of low carbon energy resources is key to the long-term future of the Haven waterway. I will continue to meet with ministers, the Crown Estate and potential developers to take forward this exciting vision.”
