Stephen Crabb MP recently met with senior NatWest officials to discuss the closures of the Milford Haven and Cardigan branch of the bank and its effects on the wider community in Pembrokeshire.
The Preseli Pembrokeshire MP said: “For NatWest customers in rural North Pembrokeshire the loss of the Cardigan branch will mean they face a 50 mile round trip to Haverfordwest if they want to visit their nearest branch. This is not acceptable. The main High Street banks must not turn their backs on small towns and rural areas.
“NatWest informed me that they intend to appoint new Community Bankers to still provide face-to-face advice and support to their customers where a branch has been closed.
“I asked about the NatWest staff affected by the closures and was told that no compulsory redundancies are planned.”
The Cardigan branch of NatWest is due to close on May 30 while Milford Haven’s branch is due to close on June 21.
