In Yesterday’s budget debate, Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb spoke out in the chamber to officially thank the UK Government for including the Haverfordwest Town Centre Improvement project in the first round up of successful bids to the Levelling Up Fund.
In last week’s budget the UK Government committed £17.7 million for a bid put forward by Pembrokeshire County Council for the regeneration of the Haverfordwest Castle and Riverside within the town. The bid presents a clear vision for the future, recognising Pembrokeshire’s potential. Speaking in the Chamber, Mr Crabb referred to the bid as a ‘catalyst’ for change, a pivotal opportunity to regenerate Haverfordwest Town Centre and bring activity into the historic heart of the town.
Following the debate, Mr Crabb commented:
“I was delighted to partake in the budget debate yesterday. Last week The Chancellor presented a budget that will have a positive impact on the whole of the UK, and for my own constituency of Preseli Pembrokeshire. I also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the three paddleboarders who tragically lost their lives in the Cleddau River over the weekend. My thoughts are with the families of the victims as they come to terms with the enormous loss.”
“I have worked hard to support Pembrokeshire County Council in their bid to the Levelling Up Fund. I am delighted the Chancellor has listened. I look forward to working alongside Pembrokeshire County Council and contributing in stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of timescales and plans for the Town.”
