Official figures from the Office of National Statistics and the Department for Work and Pensions has shown that the number of people claiming benefits has fallen again in Preseli Pembrokeshire.
There were 50 fewer claimants in the constituency last month, compared to May 2017 and there were 15 fewer compared to April 2018.
The total number of claimants in Preseli Pembrokeshire for May of this year was 895, which represents 2.5% of the economically active population aged 18 to 64. This is lower than the UK average claimant rate of 2.8%.
Stephen welcomed the news saying: “These are strong figures showing that we are ahead of the UK average here in Preseli Pembrokeshire. There is still work to be done, but with record employment, more people in the workplace and fewer claimants we are definitely moving in the right direction.”
