I am supporting this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, which is encouraging primary schoolchildren in Pembrokeshire and across the UK to take part in borrowing, reading and talking about their favourite books from their local library. Research shows that children who use libraries are twice as likely to be above average readers.
Last year 1057 children in Pembrokeshire took part. I hope we can increase that number this year and remind local libraries what a valuable asset they are to us and our community.
