Local MP Stephen Crabb is highlighting that record funding is available for Erasmus+ in Preseli Pembrokeshire in 2018.
Erasmus+ funding enables participants from the UK to go abroad study, work, volunteer, teach or train. Every year, Erasmus+ funds around 16,000 UK higher education students to benefit from a study or work placement abroad, 6,000 UK vocational education and training students to benefit from a work placement abroad, and 5,000 young people, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, to benefit from a volunteering experience abroad.
The funding is open to schools, further and higher education, adult education and youth organisations. Funding covers a range of activities, from vocational training placements to collaborative research, from joint projects between schools to training for youth workers, and is delivered across the UK by the British Council and Ecorys. Students and young people that take part in Erasmus+ face lower unemployment; are more likely to gain management positions, and have higher academic attainment.
Stephen Crabb said: “Erasmus+ is a fantastic programme which allows so many to broaden their horizon through learning abroad. However, two application deadlines are fast approaching. One in March for education and training partnerships on best practice, including school exchanges, and another in April on activities in the youth sector.
“A great many students from Pembrokeshire have benefitted from Erasmus opportunities over the last twenty years. I would like to see this continue and grow.
“I urge all those who are keen to apply now https://www.erasmusplus.org.uk/apply-for-school-partnership-funding”
