
Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb joined the Muslim community of Milford Haven at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Islamic Centre based on Charles Street for the first time since its extensive renovation.
The Hamad Bin Khalifa Islamic Centre, which is on the site of the old Tabernacle church, has undergone major renovations to become an important feature of the town and place of worship for the Muslim faith. Established in 2018 the centre offers daily prayers, a Friday prayer, in addition to Islamic education classes for all ages.
Stephen was warmly welcomed into the Centre by Mustafa Maknassa, Centre Manager and Lead Imam on Friday 10th June, before joining the community to witness their Friday prayer. He also took the time to address those attendance. The MP shared information about his role in the local community and his work in Parliament on behalf of local residents. He was interested to hear about the work being done by the trustees to build strong links with the wider community.
The MP was provided with a tour of the facility and an opportunity to meet with worshippers with traditional refreshments provided.

“Many residents will know the extensive work that has been carried out on the old church building to turn it into the modern and wonderful resource it is today. It is indeed an impressive facility and I was delighted to be able to experience it. I was fascinated to hear about its development in the town and the important role it has in meeting the needs of Muslim families located in and around Milford Haven.
“I am grateful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to meet with the muslim community and observe Friday prayer which is a significant feature in the Muslim faith.”
