Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb recently met with Shelter Cymru, Wales’ people and homes charity to discuss housing issues in Pembrokeshire. The local MP met with Christine Davies, the Pembrokeshire case worker and JJ Costello, head of housing services South Wales from the charity that works to prevent homelessness and bad housing conditions in Wales
Stephen Crabb said: “Over recent weeks I've met with Shelter Cymru, PATCH and other charities to discuss housing issues, benefit changes and the introduction of Universal Credit. These meetings have proved invaluable as they give a real world view on the issues affecting people in Pembrokeshire, which I take forward to the Government. Christine is one of the most knowledgeable people around when it comes to housing issues and is someone whose insights I've always taken seriously.”
Shelter Cymru welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Preseli Pembrokeshire as part of a wider engagement with politicians across Wales.
Christine Davies said: “We were very grateful for the opportunity to meet with Stephen Crabb MP to highlight our concerns about the housing challenge facing people across Pembrokeshire. Of particular concern to us at Shelter Cymru is the impact of welfare reforms such as the spare room subsidy, the benefit cap and the roll out of Universal Credit on people’s ability to find and keep their homes. We encourage anyone who is concerned about their housing to seek advice early on our Shelter Cymru Live hotline 0345 075 5005.”
