A CHILD bereavement charity, set up after the heart breaking death of a one-year old baby and his father is looking to increase its support network across Wales.
2 Wish Upon a Star is a charity founded by former Pembrokeshire resident Rhian Mannings following the sudden and tragic deaths of her 1-year old George and her husband Paul. The charity now aims to provide counselling, support and more to families who have lost a child.
Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb met with Rhian to hear her story.
“As a society, bereavement and death is something we don’t like to talk about, but hearing from Rhian and her story shows how important it is for us to talk and to listen.
"Losing a child is an incredibly difficult experience for any family to go through and charities like 2 Wish Upon a Star play a vital role in ensuring that specialist support and counselling is available. We need to see partnerships between the NHS and specialist bereavement charities get stronger across the country."
Rhian Mannings said, following the meeting: “2 Wish Upon A Star is helping so many families here in Wales who have lost a child suddenly. We now need the right people to know about us and to help us grow further. No family should be left alone to deal with such heartache. We are here to help. Thank you to Stephen Crabb for taking time out to meet with me, to hear about my boys and also about 2 Wish. Together is the only way we can make a difference.”
