Crabb gives backing to 10:10 climate change campaign

In an important Commons vote tonight, Preseli MP Stephen Crabb will give his support to the '10:10' climate change campaign which aims to cut CO2 emissions by 10% in 2010.

Stephen will be part of a cross-party coalition of MPs who want Parliament to sign up to the nationwide campaign which has attracted widespread public backing.

In recent weeks Stephen has received a large number of emails and letters from constituents who have also commited themselves to the campaign and are taking small, constructive steps to reduce their own emissions in their daily lives.

Speaking from Westminster this afternoon, Stephen said:

“I fully support the 10:10 campaign and I have already, personally, signed up to the pledge. It is clear that the imperative for acting on climate change is more pressing than ever and we must set real goals if we are to make significant reductions in carbon emissions.”

“I am very pleased that this initiative has gained so much support throughout Pembrokeshire. Local people are both aware of the urgency of climate change issues and willing to do their bit to make changes in their own lifestyles to make carbon reduction a reality. They rightly expect their elected politicians to also get involved and demonstrate their commitment too."
